De nästan 1000 år gamla bildberättelserna skapades i brytningstiden mellan hednisk och kristen tid. Bonaderna är i häpnadsväckande gott skick med figurer i glödande rött och djupaste blått. Myllret av hästar, träd, hus, människor, skepp och hjortar lockar till tankar. Ulla Oscarsson, som var textilansvarig på Jamtli (Jämtlands läns museum) under drygt 30 år, har under sitt yrkesliv tillägnat sig en fantastisk överblick över de tolkningar, teorier, och vetenskapliga fakta som omgett och omger boanderna. Nya tillkommer nämligen ständigt.
The tapestries were discovered in 1910 in the village of Överhogdal in Härjedalen, the least populated forest region i Sweden.<br<The tapestries are in surprisingly good condition with figures in glowing red and deepest blue.
