Hel’s Vi is a book where our ancient, early history is described and portrayed in a way that has never been done before.
The book is based on true events. A group of present day people has planned to restore an old cult location and to then reopen it with festivities and ceremonies.
But it doesn’t quite pan out how they had envisaged it. as the actual location and its memories take over. The people arriving at the feast are in fact not the people who had been invited. They all have a vague, mysterious feeling of simply having to travel to this particular location and in the middle of this feast a story starts to take shape.
The book is centered around one real, geographical spot in Södermanland, in central Sweden, where nine generations of knowledge-bearing shamans have lived and worked. The authors share these women’s everyday life and religion with us, where the Goddess is the one and only, the all encompassing.
Helena Frykstrand and Pia Haxner have managed to breathe life into the matriarchal, goddess worshipping people. The reader gets to follow a female line from 1700 B.C. through the worshipping of Norse Gods and all the way to present day Christians. Leading into each new era there is a short recap of history as well as a map showing how the place has changed from an island setting to the present landscape appearance, due to land elevation.
The book has a language that makes the reader travel back in time to the era in which the women lived. You can really sense that there is a reality behind every life story.
With the help of scientific research in the area of quantum physics, we are given a short, introductory explanation as to why it is possible for a place to hold on to memories, and also how we can see and experiences locations from another era.
Hel’s Vi is a book you simply cannot put down and after you have read this, nothing is the same anymore.
